You may already know that we have an Owner’s Group on Facebook where we can pass on important news and information to our owners and also where owners can ask for advice and post relevant information and photos that others might find useful.

This is an incredibly useful tool for us and for you to keep in touch. As this group had grown considerably and had gained many members who were not actually owners, we have recently deleted a large proportion of members whose names we maybe didn’t recognise or weren’t sure if they were owners or families of owners.  We ask that you click on the link to our Facebook page below or search for Searivers / Riverside Owners Group when you are next on Facebook and join the group. Please answer the question and let us know your caravan number or your family caravan number if not yours. We need this information to approve your request to join.

The link to the group is shown below:

Gas Safety in Caravans

Do you need a Gas Safety test every year? In a word, yes. It may seem unecessary especially if you don't use your caravan very often but the gas hoses are exposed to the elements and can degenerate simply through non-use. If you let out your caravan out then the law states that you must have an Annual Gas Safety Certificate. However, if you don't let the caravan then it is down to you to decide on the merits of a safety test in order to ensure your own safety and that of your family and friends.

Remember;

  • Carbon Monoxide poisoning happens when you breathe Carbon Monoxide even at very low levels.
  • It is also colourless, odourless and tasteless so you are not likely to know you are even being exposed to it.
  • Unlike mains gas, LPG gas is heavier than air and drops to floor level, so never block your vents. They are there for a reason!

The price of a Gas Test is currently £70 which really is very little considering the potential consequences so, if you don't currently have a safety certificate in place (they last 12 months) please book yours in with us. Regular servicing is also essential so why not book this in at the same time too.

Please do give us a call on 01970 871399 if you have any questions or would like more information. The BH&HPA guidance leaflet on Gas Safety in Holiday Homes can be found below or by clicking here.
